In the evening there are illuminations at the hamlets all down the valley of the Beas, and the signal for lighting up is given from a small temple in the old castle at Nagar.

Two days later there is a fair at this place in honour of the serpent, from which it derives its name, and on this occasion an enormous straw rope is dragged from the village to the river to commemorate the destruction of the reptile which is said to have once ravaged the country-side.
