Introduction:

Patriotism is basically defined as a citizen’s love for his country and the courage to defend it against any odds.

This does mean that a person needs to love only his country and hate other countries, but the love for his country would be a bit on the higher side, that’s all.

It is the land that we have been born and bought up and hence we have affection to it no matter what may come.

How is patriotism expressed:

Patriotism could be expressed in many ways. A true patriot would always try to something that would keep his nation proud. He would also be into activities that would be for the betterment of the nation. He would try to bring in major changes if required and stand for the truth and against all wrongs of that country that he is in love with. A true patriot would make sure that in every walk of his life, he would respect and do deeds that his country would be proud and would also motivate, encourage others to do the same so that he would make others also love the nation that they belong to and stay up for it any circumstances.

ADVERTISEMENTS:

However, patriotic feeling should be displayed in the right manner at the right place, or else it may lead to situations that could even lead to drastic war and fight. People should realize that the love for your nation is within you and it is not something that should be used as a tool to create an uneasy atmosphere in other countries.

Conclusion:

History has given and shown us so many patriots that have fought and made proud of the nation that they belong to. Some great patriots would include people like Abraham Lincoln, where he abolished the slavery system of America and bought in democracy on being the President of America. In India we have great patriots like Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose and many more leaders. These people are regarded as great patriots and we should look upon and learn from them, as to what exactly is being a Patriot means.
